Geography of Infectious and Parasitic Diseases These lists should be used together with the lists of differential diagnoses based on organ or system involvement, so that the possible causes of illness in the traveler or visitor from the tropics may be determined and the specific chapters consulted for deailed information. However, the lists are in random order and do not in any way suggest the relative risks or frequencies of the various diseases. The relevant chapter is indicated by the number after each disease. Only infectious and parasitic diseases are listed. For other diseases, consult the Chapter on "Geographic Variations of Malignant (Neoplastic) Diseases in the Tropics" or "Geographic Variations of Nonmalignant Diseases in the Tropics." 1.
